Recently I have been researching what are the foods you should have with skin and what you should not. I should say it has been an enlightening experience.
General rule of thumb: all fruits and veggies have lot of nutrition in the skin but only edible if it is organic or has been washed in a certain vegetable wash mixture.
How to make a natural vegetable/fruit wash- I will make things easy for you- just mix vinegar and water in 1:9 ratio. Soak veggies/fruits for about 10-15 minutes. A question comes, how to identify that what you are getting as organic produce is really organic… if the fruit or vegetable you got has a shiny coating, chances are that’s it is not organic and should be washed in a vegetable wash!!
Some of the fruits and vegetables that can be eaten with skin on after the wash or are organic:
- Capcisum or any colored bell pepper
- Kiwi(believe it or not skin of kiwi has lot of antioxidants)
- Bitter Gourd( Indian name-Karela)
